antichild league
Gaya is already well known for running the infamous Hinoeuma club, london's stage for power electronics.
Her own music is a unique mixture of power drones, contradictory proclamations and pure sinister noise. Having appeared on several prestigious compilations before, such Transmissions of Power and Extreme Music From Women, her pedigree is not to be denied. She typifies the independent spirit that is such an important part of the Operative concept. We look forward to a full length release from her soon. A very few copies of her first cassette "Hellworm" are still available directly from her site.

leisurehive
Formed at some point by Daniel Knowler, Leisurehive's three core members (D.Knowler - voice, sounds, guitar; Mariabob - violin, guitar, sounds; Joanne Owen - Bass, other sounds) have been creating a gradually shifting sound ever since.
Leisurehive's live performances often reconcile a sense of disjointedness and atonality with an emotional, song-based approach and have forced certain individuals to mention PIL, Cranes, Swans and Velvet Underground in the same sentence, although Leisurehive remain a purely contemporary unit.
Moving on from earlier work to more repetitive & disjointed song-forms, Leisurehive's most recent full length album, 'Spasm' displays various intentions to form a set of moody, angular songs. It is released in June 2001 through Operative Records.
Discography so far:
'Our Secret Films' - Debut CD album, 1998
'This Is Not Failure' - Split CD with Womb and Naevus, 1999
'Tape' - Limited cassette with two otherwise unavailable songs, 1999/2000
'Spasm' - New, and thus most relevant CD, 2000/2001

ruse
Ruse is the disguise adopted to allow the anonymous capture of the sounds and textures which surround everyone to be given their space. Modern music as choice and chance. The music is collated and assembled from captured source recordings and tenderly reassembled to reveal new patterns or rhythms. The way two sounds lay together, or the tones of the familiar stripped from its usual environment. Tones to demonstrate how the post industrial age is developing its own canon of new voices.

shining vril
Shining Vril is an ongoing gnostic musical and lfestyle project comprising Jonh Murphy and anybody who wishes to be associated with him in these endeavours. Jonh Murphy was informed early on in his "career" that playing, composing and performing experimental and passionate music was a foolproof method of meeting and befriending members of the opposite gender. Alas, this has mostly not been the case over a 24 year period - the real reason for his perserverance. The evil doer who told him this was one Bottom Galore.
Shining Vril's musical style and gnostic philosophy covers all areas and none. Shining Vril has recieved positive reviews and response from European and US/Australian underground press and e-zines. S.V hope to have an album out on operative within the next 12 months. S.V. seekes cyclic repetition and oblivion in time and space and encompasses everything (the absolute) and nothing at all.

naevus
Naevus was formed in London in 1998 by Lloyd James (voice, guitar, other sounds) and Joanne Owen (bass, other sounds). Their debut album, Truffles of Love, was released in June 1999 on Wooden Lung, reconciling various contradictory influences, resulting in a finished whole that moves from pleasant unease through to uneasy pleasure. With the aid of a well-received live debut in Germany followed by various London gigs, Naevus began to elicit favourable comparisons to bands such as Swans, Magazine and Death in June. The material from these performances was recorded for the second Naevus album, Soil, completed in June 2000 and eventually released in August 2001 by SPKR. The third Naevus album, Behaviour, is due for release on Operative in early 2002 and again demonstrates a huge step forward, with thunderous illustrations of the failures of the body interspersed with moments of acoustic abstraction.
Discography to date:
Truffles of Love 10-track CD album, 1999, Wooden Lung
This is not Failure 5 tracks contributed to limited edition split CD 1999
Soil 10-track CD album, 2001, SPKR

antivalium
Encompassing digital noise, dark ambience and jagged rhythm, Antivalium are a spontaneous performance based electronic outfit. Following Dogmatic 1999 rules, all material is recorded live, without overdubs. The content is a mixture of obsessions, from post cold war number stations to occultism and perversion. Described as "... a sophisticated and skillfully delivered improvised noise assault...".The end result is dynamically powerful rhythmn and noise.
