16/7/2001: Launch of "first"
The Operative launch for FIRST was an outstanding success. A big thankyou to Mac from SLIMELIGHT for giving us the use of the venue, and for all the people who came to support. Also to Faith, the evenings sound engineer had the unenviable task of mixing four completely disparate acts, and to the groups themselves, KNIVES, MUFFPUNCH, NAEVUS and KNIFELADDER for co-operating and keeping calm in the face of what could have been a logitistical nightmare.
There are many releases scheduled for this year, including some limited edition vinyl releases form RUSE ANDREW LILES, MUFFPUNCH and KNIVES.
Full length albums are expected from NAEVUS, KNIFELADDER, SHINING VRIL and several others. LEISUREHIVE have of course already released an album on Operative.Watch this space.
In the mean time (and it is, it is) keep buying the FIRST compilation, its all killers, no fillers. Available from all good record stores. And if it's not, why the fuck do you bother going there?

9/7/2001: Release of "first"
Debut compilation from Operative Records. A disparate and varied selection of 'outsider' artists. The perfect soundtrack for a thousand different moods; from disturbing dark ambient to jagged, improvisational guitar, from full on noise attack to acoustic melancholy and pitch-black tribal rhythms.
